Resistance Secures Release Of 150 Fighters In Abu Ghraib For 33 Americans
May 26, 2004, By Muhammad Abu Nasr, Free Arab Press And Omar Al-Fair, JUS

While mainstream press has covered the resistant release of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison as a humanitarian gesture, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the prisoners release was part of an exchange for 33 American held by Resistance fighters.

Similar to other prisoner exchanges, Fallujah’s Resistance fighters secured the release of some 150 of their companions from Abu Ghurayb, in addition to the other prisoners, who totaled more than 400. The 150 released Resistance fighters were exchanged for 33 American prisoners who had been captured when the US forces attempted to storm al-Fallujah. At the time of the attack, the al-Fallujah Resistance threatened to kill the aggressor captives and to put their bodies on display – a threat that elicited a quick response from the US command.

In addition, on Monday, al-Fallujah Resistance fighters took captive three Iraqi stooges of the Americans who were strolling from one neighborhood of al-Fallujah to another.

Iraqi Resistance In Al-Fallujah Capture American Colonel In Iraqi Dress

Iraqi Resistance forces shortly after sunset on Tuesday took prisoner an American soldier with the rank of Colonel together with two Iraqi stooges. The three were driving a civilian Jeep, and all of them were wearing Iraqi dress. All three were taken into custody as they passed the large al-Mu‘adidi Mosque on as-Sirsar Street in al-Fallujah, according to a report posted at 11:27 Mecca Time by the al-Fallujah correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.

The local residents wanted to kill the invaders and their stooges, but the Resistance fighers prevented them from doing so, at least not until they have been able to derive some benefit from them – using them for bargaining for the release of Resistance fighters languishing in the occupation’s concentration camps.

Death Catches Up With Traitors Who Inform On Iraqi Resistance Fighters

Al-Jazeera TV has reported that with the spread of the Iraqi Resistance, the phenomenon of traitors who make deals with the occupation authorities has also been spreading in the county. US forces take advantage of individuals who are in straightened economic situations and offer them paymenst or promises of high positions after the situation in Iraq becomes “stable.” What the Americans get from the traitors is information on persons supposedly linked to the Iraqi Resistance.

The city of al-Qa’im on the Syrian border is one location where the Resistance and the activity of the traitors have both been on the rise.

The informers, who always try to keep their faces masked, accompany US aggressor troops as they storm into houses looking for “suspected” Resistance fighters. The informants who have already drawn up lists of persons to search for, help the Americans find and capture the patriots. When the Resistance fighters themselves are not available, the US troops frequently capture wives or sisters of the “suspects” and hold them hostage until the Resistance fighter comes forward and surrenders.

The Resistance, however, is also aware of the role played by informant traitors and is taking measures against them.

One step that the Resistance has taken is to track the cellular telephones used by the traitors for contacting their American masters via satellite.

After a traitor has been captured and confessed to being involved in collaboration with the US occupation, his confession is filmed on laser disk and he or she is then executed. The laser disk of the traitor’s confession is then sent to the elders of his tribe who declare that they have nothing to do with such traitors. This measure is taken by the Resistance to prevent tribal blood feuds from breaking out over the execution of such enemy agents.

In fact, al-Jazeera reports, there have been many cases in which the tribe executes the traitors on its own, as the tribes usually regard collaboration with the occupation or informing on Resistance fighters to amount to treason and betrayal.

The number of traitors executed by the Resistance or by their tribal brothers has reached 70 in the city of al-Qa’im alone. Some of them have been women.
